GUEST BLOG \\ Amy from Lilac Studio Co

So honored to welcome Amy from Lilac Studio Co to our blog today! Amy is a virtual assistant and blogger. She is a loving mother of three, two of those three being super sweet pups. Amy has dreams of a large family and seeks ways to make simple things, like family photos, simple, chaotic-less and as aesthetically pleasing as possible. From a bag full of mess-free snacks and a pocket full of songs to make her daughter smile, mom, Amy has found the key to family photography sessions.

What does a normal day out look like in your household?

Maybe you grab your keys and head out the door. Any parents that are reading this know that notion is a LIE! Let’s see, what is the process for me to leave the house? First, I sniff a diaper and most likely wrestle a toddler into a new one. Often, they go running down the hall with their naked butt free and wild. If it’s going to be a long outing, I grab snacks and extra diapers, a sippy cup, an armful of toys and strap the same nude toddler, now dressed, into a 1,000 lb car seat. 3.5 hours later I grab my keys and head out the door.

Leaving the house with a toddler is not a simple thing, leaving the house with multiple babies, toddlers, children, or teenagers is even more complicated. So, imagine all that process but you also need to coordinate your outfits, make you look fabulous and your children presentable. What am I talking about?

Family Photos

Something that is often an utter disaster and full of impending chaos. Yet here I am post family photos and living to tell the tale. Why? Because we did a mini session. 20 minutes. Full attention from a wandering toddler, no outfit changes or messy clothes, no snacks, no toys. Just a sippy cup, a fresh diaper, and the cutest linen dress that perfectly matched mom and dad.

Mini sessions are toddler GOLD! Because we all know their attention will soon drift and the tears and tantrums will commence. Just a flutter of the camera and some incredible smiles. We now have a beautiful album of photos to choose from and the process was seamless and pain free. So, when you go to book your family sessions let me persuade you to think mini!

From the Photographer

These portraits were all taken at our July marathon Minis at The Farm Bakery! We were so lucky to have been able to photograph so many beautiful families, couples, and even did a group of best friends! Hazel Lining tries to schedule a day of mini’s at least once a year to help clients on budgets and time crunches! Plus, like Amy said, it is perfect for families with littles!
